Giving & Sharing for Yourself

Had been traveling some to embrace my other half. Also occupied with work, commencing MBA studies, & the Online Bakery. Still, it’s time to slow down to accomplish more. Paradoxical, quite.

Giving Your All
When you know that you’ve given your all. And still thing’s don’t turn out as they should. Do we slog even harder. Do we do or die to ensure that we sacrifice ourselves to make things right?

Like most things though the answer lies in the center of balance. We must of course take ownership & do things right including following through. Yet at the same time we need worry needlessly or kill ourselves (figuratively) if things don’t go right.

There is no point pushing pointlessly like the saw with dull blades on a giant balak (meaning: tree). Best to rest. And then only refocus & get it going! =)

Sharing
“No one is strong enough to bear his burdens alone”

Learning to share one’s burden with others. To rejoice with those who are rejoicing. To grief with those who are grieving. Trusting in others. Sharing your worries & fears.

And with just a simple act, we can better face tomorrow with a smile on our faces & confidence in our hearts.

Positivity
It’s all in the mindset & our approach. To be at peace despite the problems we face from the leaking sink to running out of moolah before your next paycheck 😉

Focus not on what is wrong & not right. But instead focus on what is good & what should be done right.

Stay positive both outside & even more importantly inside through the many challenges that life has to throw us.

Question
How do you handle seemingly impossible-like situations in life/work/etc?

Two-Faced Dilemma
Have you even faced a dilemma where you found yourself whether consciously or unconsciously presenting different aspects of your character to different people? Did you embrace being that person full-heartedly? Or did you ponder whether this to a certain extent makes you a fake in a way as you wonder which of these masks you put on is your true character?

Masked Acceptance?
Still over the years, we often reach acceptance or possibly become too busy to think of matters as such. Yet how much do you truly know yourself? Do you wear masks, at least some of the time, in believe of protecting yourself from the harsh society & world that we live in? Or do you eschew the concept of masks being very sure that the person that you are is truly yourself? Or have you actually reached an equilibrium whereby it no longer is a mask but an acceptance of that the various roles & characters you play in your stage of life are all really, truly — you?!

What It’s Not About
It is not about being a two-faced two-legged snake. It is not about pretending to speak with a foreign accent after only spending 1 month abroad (puh-leeze!) It is not about lying through your teeth or making the truth worse than lies. It is not about telling what is the most convenient lie to whoever happens to be listening.

Natural State of Being
It has been proven through research that even a child learns from a very young age to cry (the proverbial crocodile tears) only when someone is looking & can stop crying almost immediately once what the child wants is achieved. Likewise how we react to different people in our lives is actually but a natural state of being whereby from our experience & gut feelings, we act in a certain why. There is no point in trying to reason with a bull who does not even listen to reason. Nor is there point to argue with an idiot. Instead you tackle the bull with the red cloth. And you deal with the idiot in whatever you deem the best way there is to deal with idiots (ignoring usually works).

To Realize What is Truly You
Therein lies the re-learning on how to cope & act accordingly depending on our situation & surroundings. We need to shirk off the arrogant yet false believes of self-imposed nobility. We must know when to press the advantage. We must know when to retreat – which is actually another form of advancement. Yet all this of course requires balance with our own individual maturity & inner goodness which is not bound by pettiness. Detach yourself from your own constraints taught to you by society. Put yourself first, and only then will you be capable of helping your fellow men.

Question
Controversial mayhaps, but what do you think?

Winds of Change

I am a firm believer that the government should be the representation the rakyat for the nations well-being. I am also one of those so called “silent majority” and “vote based on the candidate, not the party” – despite all the criticism on that.

StevBlogs
In April 2007, I made a conscious decision to change the focus of my (old) blog from being more whimsical & random to a more focused are for discourse & discussion. This also reflected in my choice of blogging platform to WP as (a then) more simpler interface so I could focus more on what I wanted to do — write & talk with online people from various backgrounds. In Dec 2007, I lost my online anonymity as well be going public with setting up an online homebaked business. How else can people trust you if you are anonymous or just a page on the internet?

I would most certainly not classify my blog as a political one (and I carefully avoid any specific talk about work to be professional to both my company & customers). Yet today we are moving forward again with a conscious decision that the blog may occasionally contain matters of politics or thoughts as despite how we view politics as often dirty, politics actually at the heart of it is about our lives – both yours & mine. In short, my blog is going a bit more personal & direct as that’s how I feel blogs & communication in general needs to be.

Work Developing People
On a minor contradiction to what I wrote of above, I am going to touch a bit on work as well. I do owe readers 😉 an explanation as well on my sporadic postings (will continue to be sporadic in the month of March due to work commitments). A major work transition is going on for myself & I find myself facing a challenging yet excitingly refreshing task (despite the ungodly hours put in to work) to plan, discuss, change & act to most importantly make the workplace better for all my employees, to exceed all my customers expectations & to expand the business.

Without going too much into specifics – candid honest communication, stabilization of teams, rewarding those who perform well, & growing/grooming up new leaders are my main general focus & commitments. Transitioning out of my previous department, I do hope that my report card from my staff shows that I have achieved better communication, stabilization & hopefully helped to develop passion and nurture growth in all the wonderful individuals in my team.
